Timeline for EU citizenship eligibility
Our dedicated team and partners will guide you through every step of the EU residency application process, providing full support along the way. Within 20 days of approval, you and your family members will be eligible to receive residency cards, granting you immediate access to all residency benefits and unrestricted travel throughout the EU.
YEAR 1 TO 2
The residency card enables you to travel freely within the Schengen countries (in addition to carrying your passport), eliminating the need for visa applications. During the initial two years, a minimum of 14 days must be spent in Portugal. Upon completion of the second year, a card renewal process is required.
YEAR 3 to 4
The newly issued residence card remains valid for two years. Within this timeframe, it is essential to spend a minimum of an additional 14 days in Portugal, whether consecutively or non-consecutively. Upon the expiration of the period, a renewal process must be undertaken.
YEAR 5 AND MORE
After the 5th year, you have the option to apply for permanent residency or citizenship, leading to the acquisition of a Portuguese passport. If you prefer not to pursue either option, you can choose to renew your Golden Visa every two years.
